Scroll down for English version
“ANNE, ARE YOU OK?”
Modern work is full of stress. Miscommunications, isolation, overwork, and all sorts of fears draw workers into spirals of self-doubt and anguish. While the artist’s group of works depicts her imagination of stress in work life, it also highlights the effects of compassion and empathy. It is through such sensitivities to oneself and others that we survive and advance amid adversity.
A series of visual art pieces invites visitors to re-examine their work lives and inner selves, including the parts they prefer hidden.
“Anne, Are You OK?”
In “Anne, Are You OK?”, a large photographic print resembling a screenshot of an online meeting, the peaceful expression on “Resusci Anne”, a plastic doll developed for CPR training, calls for much reading. Does it entail relief, fear, or isolation? The interpretation is revealing.“Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”
“Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” includes a photographic print and a network cable sculpture. The photography is a self-portrait of the artist, tangled and overwhelmed by hair-like cables. The cable sculpture comprises of ethernet cables cut open to expose the once colorful core wires, forming a disconnected tumbleweed. Both parts symbolize the fears in and resistance towards communication and miscommunication.“The Self Dough”
The installation “The Self Dough” features two dough-like sensory poufs that embody hidden parts of our inner selves. Visitors are invited to hug them, re-examine their thoughts and beliefs, and embrace themselves, even the elements they prefer hidden from view.Aside from visual arts, the same artist also invites visitors to have a “Small Talk” with her, and takes the audience on a self-healing journey. Through conversation and confrontation with oneself, they shall rediscover their inner strengths.
